ARTnimaux ! Poissons
One exhibition, one day each month, thirty minutes, one animal family leading to the works!
Animals are at the heart of the museum's concerns this year, so it's only natural that they should lead curious visitors to the works that represent them. Moving from one animal to another, the animal families will provide an opportunity for artistic and eclectic discoveries... This month, the FISH are our tour guides, so follow them!
What better month than April to put the spotlight on fish? Although the origins of the "April Fools' Day" tradition remain obscure, everyone agrees that it is a joke, or even a deception. Surprising when you consider the strong symbolism, particularly religious, associated with fish... perhaps less surprising when you consider the equivocal proximity between fishing and sin!
There's no symbolism on today's menu, but there is fish on your artistic menu, and if you like, you can try a shad in sorrel - it's said to dissolve the bones! For your comfort, you can sit by the fire on a salt box decorated with fish and eat from this Nevers earthenware angler's plate dated 1730. Finally, since April is not far off, would you like to ride a hilarious fish in the company of a pretty mermaid? If that leaves you stunned and speechless... don't hesitate to come and join us, we'll show you all this and we're sure to whet your appetite!
The Musée de la Loire invites you to join us for a cultural and artistic lunch break. If you've got nothing else to do, and you're not afraid of going goat? Then join us, and if we can't get you to swallow anything, we'll do our best to amaze you each month with the most beautiful animal representations in our exhibition!
