Conférence : Pêcher en Loire

For the first exhibition of the season, in April, the Musée de la Loire is taking an anthropological approach to the question of fishing in the Loire basin.
Fishing practices in the Loire are changing, but they are multi-faceted and rooted in a long tradition of river use.
The presentation will briefly retrace this regional history, then focus on contemporary developments in fishing practices. The various fishing activities, both professional and leisure, will be discussed, as will the controversies in which they find themselves at the start of the 21st century, between nature conservation and the exploitation of resources. Finally, there will be a discussion of the heritage of fishing, a living but endangered form of heritage, in the light of the project to include the nautical knowledge of the Loire as part of the intangible cultural heritage, which is being promoted by the Musée de la Loire in 2025 with the exhibition Gestes de Loire.
