Coteaux du Giennois vineyards: in all simplicity

Since 1998, when the Coteaux du Giennois obtained its Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) status, the region has developed thanks to a new generation of winegrowers. They have developed their practices in the vineyards and cellars to bring you a quality wine that expresses the full diversity of the terroirs.

Some thirty winegrowers work just over 200 hectares from Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire in the south to Gien in the north.

Historically planted with Pinot Noir and Gamay for the production of both fresh and more structured red wines, the Coteaux du Giennois also produce a range of white and rosé wines combining freshness and minerality, with Sauvignon Blanc.

What better way to appreciate them than by tasting them?

The Coteaux du Giennois whites are fine expressions of Sauvignon, with notes of white flowers and quince. Mineral notes underline the character of these full-bodied, supple wines. They are best drunk between 8°C and 10°C and go very well with fish, seafood or Japanese-style potato salad.

Coteaux du Giennois reds, a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay grapes, are fine and fruity, with aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries and cherries. Slightly spicy notes underline the whole. The flavour and fragrance of the Pinot Noir and the liveliness of the Gamay combine to create a harmonious blend. They can be served at a temperature of 15°C, with red meat or Berrichon cheese.

As rosés, Coteaux du Giennois wines express their finesse and delicacy. Aromas of vine peaches and slightly peppery notes enhance these fresh, well-balanced wines. Serve chilled with a platter of cold meats or Japanese-style prawns.
